Our Approach to Science

At the Marist, our intent is for the children to be equipped with the knowledge, attitude, skills and experiences to build a lifelong engagement with science. Scientific knowledge is embedded through real life examples and experiences relevant to our children’s lives. By the time children reach the end of their primary schooling, we want them not only to be well-equipped for the transition to secondary school science, but also to appreciate the importance of understanding science in our life and the opportunities available within science and STEM careers.

We aim for children to understand how scientific understanding is important to the world around them, and is a still-developing field to which they can make a contribution.  This means our children will be more able, to understand and evaluate the science that impacts their life and society.  For example: heathy eating and climate change.
