Challenging the most able children

At The Marist we have a number of able and very able children and we work hard to ensure that they are challenged within the class to help them develop to their full potential. The first wave of challenge comes in the classroom setting with careful differentiation of work to extend and enrich. Opportunities for independent activities and projects may also be provided. The second wave of challenge may come through targeted extension activities in small groups outside the classroom and in the opportunities which we look to provide throughout the year. Some of our more able and very able children will attend inter-school activities based on their area of talent and co-curricular clubs specifically organised for them. A wide variety of out of the classroom activities are provided across the curriculum.
